Poetic Justice: Chapter 27

Jax walked down the hallway at St. Thomas to find Tara. She had called to tell him about Stahl. As he passed by the front desk he spotted her going through some folders. She shot him a smirk that made his blood run cold but he just smiled and kept going until he reached Tara in Abel’s room.

Stahl was bad news for everyone but she had nothing on SAMCRO. The only problem was that she didn’t seem to be going after the men. She was targeting the women.

“She knows everything, Jax.” Tara wrapped her arms around his waist, laying her head on his chest as she let out a terrified huff. “She knows all about me. About us.”

It felt wrong having her hug him like this but he wrapped his arms around her to calm her down.

“It’s all bluff.” He said. “They got nothing on us so they’re going through all our friends.”

She pulled away and sanitized her hands again as tried to pull herself together.

“You didn’t tell them anything did you?”

“No! No, I didn’t say anything.” She looked down for a minute. “Was this Leila? Was this because she found out?”

Jax felt his face flash hot in anger before he shook his head. “She would never.”

Though the possibility ran through his mind, Leila was more loyal than anyone he’d ever met. And if Stahl was on the case, Leila had no part of that.

He looked down at Tara, giving her a kiss on the cheek before pulling away.

“I gotta tell the club. I’ll see you later.”

The men called Chapel as soon as Jax returned. They had already gotten word of what was going on from the club lawyer after the porn studio got busted.

“Got Luanne on drug charges. Cherry on theft and arson.” Clay let the club know as they gathered around the table.

“Stahl’s trying to use Rico.’ Unser added. “If she could prove her case, she could take you all down.”

“And if we go down?” Chibs lit a cigarette, leaning forward.

“Why do you think I’m sitting at the goddamn table, scotty?

“You sure this wasn’t Leila?” Bobby asked. “You pissed her off pretty bad, Jax.”

“Nah,” They all shook their heads simultaneously.

“Leila would never send for Stahl.” Jax looked at Clay when he spoke.

He might not be sure where they stood or even how far they would go, but if Stahl was here this definitely wasn’t Leila’s doing.

“Well whatever this is, is super low key. They’ve kicked me out of my office because I pose a security threat. They’ve taken over the whole station. This is a weekend sting. If she can’t find anything to make a case then she’s out of here.”

“Well then we just have to keep everything clean for this weekend.” Opie added.

“We got anything to be worried about with the doc?” Clay looked at Jax again.

“She’s seen a lot over the last couple of weeks. Little miss Tara is the one who got the ATF here in the first place.” Tig flatly pointed out.

“You got nothing to worry about with Tara. I trust her.”

Almost everyone at the table could be heard scoffing but they continued on. It was clear Cherry couldn’t be trusted out of all the old ladies but that didn’t stop the prospect from trying to protect her. All they could do for now was create a diversion so Jax and Opie could get to Luanne in hopes that she could fill Otto in on what was going on.

As night fell, a few of the men created a diversion at a local bar to get all the cops to leave the precinct. Jax and Opie waited in the car with Unser until they saw all the cop cars pull out. Jax could see Opie was having his doubts and they couldn’t afford for anything to get fucked up so he told him to play lookout while him and Unser went in.

Taking Unser’s keys, he unlocked the main door to the cells and found Luanne and Cherry.

“What’re you doing here?” Luanne asked in a panic.

“We think the feds are pressing Otto.”

“Something’s going on, they’re letting me see him tomorrow.” She told him.

“You gotta get a message to him, Luanne. They’re trying to use the RICO act against the club. You gotta tell Otto he can’t give them any info, alright? Nothing – no matter how small or old.”

“Shit. Okay.” She agreed. “I’ll tell him.”

He nodded and went over to Cherry’s cell. “What about you, what’re they asking you?”

“Jax, you gotta – you gotta take me with you man.”

He could see she was visibly panicking but what she was talking about was insane.

“I can’t” He shook is head.

“Please! That bitch wants to send me back to Nevada. I’m gonna do hard time, like a hundred goddamn years! I can’t do that!” She paced back and for in the cell. “Your mom’s right. I’ll rat if i stay in here. I’ll rat!”

“Come on!” She begged. “Please! Please take me with you.”

Shit. She would fucking rat.

“Alright, shut up.” He yelled at her.

Unlocking her cage and pulling her by her arm he dragged her out to Unser. Despite the old man’s protests, they needed to take her with them.

“Put her in the van. I’ll check your office for anything.” he told them.

Carefully making his way down the hallway, he came to hear moaning coming from one of the offices. Slowly cracking the door open, he could see Stahl before Hale came up from under the table. A smirk played on his lips before he closed the door again. He was the one providing her with all of this.

By the next morning, they had gotten rid of the Irishman and Cherry and returned to the clubhouse. From what they heard over the phone, Luanne was free to go and Otto had shattered Stahl’s face. They were in the clear.

Jax headed to his room, laying back on his bed to smoke a joint. He stared at the phone in his hand, looking through his pictures with Leila before deciding to call her. He missed her voice. Missed her touch. He missed her.

“Hey baby, It’s me. I know you’re in DC but I wanted to let you know that I miss you. Call me when you can.” He left another voicemail before he hung up.

Hearing ruckus outside his room, he walked out to the hallway before he was slammed against the wall and thrown to the floor. Looking around he could see everyone on the ground too. Including his mom who was wincing in pain from Stahl kicking her.

“Bobby Munson, you are under arrest for the murder of Brenan Hefner. You have the right to remain silent -”

They had Bobby stonewalled. Not even their lawyer could get to him. Whatever Stahl was pulling behind the scenes had to be major and they’re hands were tied.

Clay was visibly upset. Unser couldn’t even get into the station anymore and now the entire club was under a fucking microscope with two members missing.

When your heart breaks, one of two things can happen. You can either crumble from it, let it deteriorate you from the inside out, or you can grow from it, learn the value of your worth and what you are capable of doing.

While being around her mother’s family to celebrate her uncle’s work anniversary, she came to realize the full extent of her capabilities. She was limitless. Her uncles and aunts loved her and they were all in much higher power than her father could ever be. He’d purposely pulled her away from them so that she would never know how much of a pull she had with these people.

After getting to talk to each one of them and overhearing their conversations,  she’d learned that these men could do whatever they wanted. If anything, they were more corrupt than any MC or street gang could ever be. They didn’t need a reason behind anything they did because they hide behind the law. And so could she.

So when she got the call from Charlotte that the ATF , more specifically -Stahl, was back in Charming conducting a quiet investigation on her father’s orders the first thing she did was go to her uncle and discuss what was going on with her.

“I think it’s time to fill you in on a few things going on.” Leila approached her uncle as they took a walk down one of the long hallways of the state house.

“About what?” Asked David.

She had never planned on going forward with this. Everything she thought about telling someone other than Jax, her stomach was in knots, but not this time. This time she was more certain than ever with what she had to do.

“It hasn’t been all rainbows and roses down in Charming.” She admitted.

Her uncle sighed as he lowered his head to shake it. “Yeah, I didn’t think so. Can’t trust your dad as far as I can throw him.”

“Yeah, well it’s worse than you think.”

Taking a look at her surroundings to make sure they were alone, she stopped walking and look at him.

“My dad.” She paused. “He’s not a good man. ‘I’ve known this for a while but I always made excuses for him. Mom did too.”

He looked at her expectantly but she needed a moment to think of how to phrase it all.

“When elections got stressful, he became a very angry man. He would do whatever it took to make sure things went his way. If mom and I did anything to jeopardize that in any way, he would use us as his own personal punching bags.”

Her uncle’s eyes nearly popped out of his head in a bloodshot rage upon hearing the words by she had to continue.

“He started with mom. Then when I got older, he set his sights on me. When mom was dying, he had an affair on her. With…. with one of your agents. June Stahl. He didn’t try to hide it. Practically rubbed it in our faces. All those recommendations he put in for her… Now you know why.”

He was silent for a minute. She could see him going over everything in his head. His fingers gripping the arm on the distressed dark leather couch tightly in anger. Uncle David wasn’t a small man by any means. Just as powerful physically as he was politically.

“Why are you telling me this now?” He asked.

“How much do you know about the Sons of Anarchy?” She returned with a question.

Shrugging his shoulders he looked at her. “Not much. They’re a small time MC. They dabble in small time shit. Not really a priority. Why?”

“I fell in love with their vice president. Jax Teller. When my dad found out, he lost it. Beat me so bad that I was bruised for weeks. Jax – he went after him and Jeff was going to pin the whole thing on the club.”

“Son of a bitch.” He growled under his breath. “What is it you want to do?”

Charlotte got her a flight back to Charming, while informing her of what Stahl had managed to do. Bobby Munson was in jail. They were trying to break the women involved with the club. 2 of them had been in custody along and they had also taken in Bobby for murder. She sent her files showing that they’d paid off Opie’s debts to make him look like a rat in order to get the MC to turn on each other. Their insider also let them know that it was Hale who had jumped the gun again, leaking information to Stahl so that they could kick out Unser.

Her hands crumbled the sheets of paper tightly as her anger got the best of her. This wasn’t for the club. Despite all of Jax’s sweet voicemails and apologies, this was for peace. This was for the fact that they had a deal that her dad broke and sent Stahl out of all people to do it. She knew the hate her father had for her, this was the perfect event to distract her enough to pull this shit and he did. Now all bets were off, he had to answer to uncle David and Stahl could kiss her career goodbye.

In the 24 hours she’d been away, Stahl had managed to mangle this whole town. This wasn’t going to fly anymore.

The first thing she did after landing was go to the police station, taking two of the officers with her, she walked straight to the back where Stahl’s office was located. She presented the men working the case with an official notice from her uncle to end the investigation and ordered them to delete every file linked to the Sons The agents packed up their equipment to be escorted out of Charming by two officers.

“What the hell is going on?” Hale walked in to see people packing and files being shredded.

Leila came out from Unser’s office, arms crossed. “Their going home. This investigation is over.”

“Does Stahl know?” He asked, concerned.

“She will. I wanted to tell her face to face. Oh, you’re relieved of duty as well. Start packing.”

“Fired? On what grounds?!” He asked taking a few steps towards her.

“Leaking information without the permission of your supervisor. Your unloyal to your precinct and you have showed that over and over by going behind Under’s back.”

“Leila, you can’t do this. This force – this has been my whole life.”

“I warned David. You’ll get your papers tomorrow morning.”

She dropped the last of the papers in the shredder before walking out. She knew where they were keeping Bobby, but Stahl had put forth extra effort to hide Opie. To make sure the club would think he disappeared after he snitched.

Her car pulled up in Stockton. After making a few calls during the drive, she was able to get Bobby out. Charlotte was in charge of finding where they were keeping the eyewitness and paying her a hefty amount to make sure she wouldn’t testify.

Stahl had weaved a pretty intricate web of the ins and outs of the club but she wasn’t as smart as she thought she was. The one thing June didn’t give a fuck about was who’s life she ruined in the process of getting her way. She never did. She ruined her life. Her mother’s life. And Leila would be dammed if anyone else got hurt because of this bitch. That included the club.

She walked through the doors into the prison, the guard didn’t bother checking her as she was directed to Bobby. He had just changed into his regular clothes before he walked out on the hallway.

“Leila? What’s going on?” He asked as he pulled her in for a hug. “They were talking 25 to life. They said they had an eye witness.”

Leila hugged him back before pulling away. “ Don’t you worry about that old man. Nothing is going to happen to you or anyone of you for that matter.”

“How? How’d you pull this off? What about their witness?”

“It’s been taken care of.” She assured him.

The two walked outside where a car was waiting to take Bobby to the clubhouse.

“Listen. They have Opie somewhere. I’m trying my best to find him but Stahl is trying to pin him as a rat. They blocked his phone. Paid his debts. They got his family there. As far as I know, he hasn’t given them anything and he won’t. Make sure the club knows.”

Bobby nodded. Taking a minute to process what she was saying. “Why are you doing this?”

“Because a deal’s a deal. Now go.” She pushed him towards the SUV before she got into her car.

  1. I loved that she is keeping her word to the club and that she fired Hale!! Can’t wait for more!

  2. At least one of them is loyal. I love Leila. I hope that Bobby can talk to the club and let them know know Opie didn’t say anything. I’m so happy you updated.
