Y/S/N – Your Son’s Name

I was so sick of these meaningless matches with no upcoming chances at the universal title. It was one thing that Vince didn’t think I was “over” enough with the fans, it was a whole different thing to write me off the title picture all together. I never even lost the title! I deserved a rematch. Instead I was fucking tossed into some dumbass feud with the Miztourage.

Ridiculous.

Finally getting back to my hotel, I took a shower and laid down on the bed to Facetime Y/N and Y/S/N. The two of them never failed to make me feel better.

The phone rang once. Twice.

Then she answered.

“Hey, baby.” I smiled at the camera. “You won’t believe the fucking day i’ve had.”

“Oh? Why don’t you tell me about it.” She replied. I could sense sarcasm in her tone and visibly see her annoyance but I assumed she had a hard time getting the baby to bed.

“First the hotel double books and I didn’t have a room yet. Then one of my favorite trunks tear. And yet again I’m stuck in this fucking stupid feud with Curtis and Bo.”

“Wow.” She replied, sarcasm coating her words again. “Must be rough.”

I sat up slightly, feeling an anger towards me. “Is … is everything okay?”

She let out an exasperated chuckle before looking at me. “Do you know what today is?”

“Uh – Tuesday?” I replied, scratching my head.

“The date, Finn.” She said sternly. “Do you know what date it is?”

“December 4th?” I answered again, just as clueless.
“Right. And what is on December 4th?”

“I – uh -”

“It’s Y/S/N’s fucking birthday Finn!” She replied in hushed aggression.

My heart dropped and I sat all the way up. “Oh fuck.”

“Oh fuck is right. We were all expecting you here. Do you know how crushed your son is right now? All of his friends were there and they were waiting for you. You didn’t even call Finn. I’ve spent the entire day assuring our son that his daddy didn’t forget about him.”

“Y/N – Can I talk to him?”

She ran a hand over her tired face and walked to his room where he sat on the floor, tear stains marking his cheeks, his eyes just as red as his mothers.
“Hey, kiddo.” I tried but he wouldn’t look at the camera. “Y/S/N, I’m so… SO sorry! Time got away from me. It’s been so busy. Daddy’ll make it up to you!” I tried but he wasn’t having it.

Instead he turned completely away from the camera as tears started to fall again and he climbed into his bed, hiding under the covers.

“Y/N…” I sighed, hanging my head as guilt festered inside of me.

“Save it.” She replied, walking back out of the room. “When we decided to have a baby you promised your family would come first. But that’s not the case is it. Wrestling will always come before us. Y’know, I was used to it, but Y/S/N – he didn’t deserve to have his heart broken like that. All he wanted for his birthday was his dad.”

“Babe…”

“Goodnight Finn. I hope it was worth it.”

She ended the call and I sank back into the bed. How could I have forgotten Y/S/N’s birthday? I fucked up. I fucked up so bad. It’s one thing to have Y/N mad at me, it’s another to have my son thinking I forgot about him.

Shit. I had to do something.

After pulling my fair share of favors with the company, I was able to pull something together. The last stop on my house tour was in my hometown. I grovelled with both Y/N and Y/S/N once I got to the house and I was able to convince them to come to the show.

It was the last segment of the show and Y/N held Y/S/N in her arms, walking through the backstage area with me. She gave me a reluctant kiss but Y/S/N still wouldn’t look at me before my music played and I went out to the ring. I made sure they were kept away from any monitors until the time was right.

After the crowd cheering stopped, I grabbed a mic and addressed them.

“So this last week, I made the worst mistake a father can make.” I began. “I wasn’t there for my son’s 5th birthday. It’s been weighing so heavy on my heart for the last couple days and I intend to make it up to him and my amazing wife to the fullest. Without them I wouldn’t be standing where I am today. I wouldn’t have had the courage to follow my dreams and work a million times harder to give them the life they deserve.
So, with that said – Y/N, Y/S/N – Can you please come down here?”

The crowd cheered as a video montage of Y/S/N’s home videos started playing on the tron. Everything from Y/N and I bringing him home from the hospital, to his first steps were shown.

The ring was decorated with balloons, a giant cake, all of the friends from his party, as well as all of the superstars who were there that day.

They walked down the ramp and Y/S/N’s eyes lit up as Y/N’s became filled with tears. I helped them both into the ring and Y/N covered her mouth before hugging me.

“Finn, this is -” She choked back tears as she watched the video and looked around at everyone.

Y/S/N waved to all his friends and jumped into my arms hugging me tightly. “Daddy this is so cool!!”

“Now, Can everyone help me sing happy birthday to the most important boy in my life?” I asked the crowd causing Y/S/N to turn red.

A production assistant lit the candles on the cake and the lights dimmed.

“Happy birthday day to you!” I sang along with his friends and the entire arena. “Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Y/S/N! Happy birthday to you!”

“Make a wish buddy.” I whispered and lowered him to blow out the candles on the cake.

Everyone cheered and Y/N hugged both of us again. “God your always so good at this.”

“Good at what?” I laughed, lowering Y/S/N so he could run to his friends and the superstars he knew.

“Making things right.” She smiled, leaning up to kiss me.
