“Anakin!” You yelled, eyes full of tears. You could see a defeated Obi-wan on the ground, interrupting your husband right before he killed his master.
You had told the man it should’ve been you to talk to the out of control Jedi first but he wouldn’t have it. The words they exchanged had only angered him, leading to a fight. Even as you watched the scene, you knew there was still good in him. You knew it wasn’t too late. Desperate he had done – he could be saved.
Anakin dropped his saber, running over to you, arms wrapping around your body in a way only his would.
“What are you doing here?” He asked, chin resting on your shoulder, his breath caressing your neck.
“Anakin, they told me what you’ve done. They’ve told me you’ve gone dark, is this true?” You lifted your head slightly, searching his eyes for answers you already knew, yet you remained calm, your hands grooming the ends of his hair.
He looked down at you, shame and anger behind his eyes. “Obi-wan is trying to turn you against me. Don’t you turn against me!” His voice raised in panic.
You lowered your head a moment, letting the tears fall from your tired eyes. You knew there was a choice to make if you couldn’t get him out.
“I would never.” You replied, lifting your eyes to meet his again. “I know why you think you’re doing this. I know the promise of power and if you this is truly, deeply in your heart what you think is right, then I will follow, but seeing you this way, despite your power, despite your position – it will break my heart. It will be you, who is the death of me.”
“D-don’t say that Y/N.” He cupped your face, pleading as his eyes, to, filled with tears. “Please don’t say that!”
“Do you love me Anakin?”

“More than anything, you know this! Everything I’ve done – everything I’m doing – is for you. For our family.”
“We don’t need any of this! Let’s just go! Let’s leave this all behind. Let’s run away from it all. Politics. The Jedi. We can be happy. You, me, and the baby.” You replied, placing a hand on your belly for emphasis.
“We-where would we go?” He asked, his voice trembling as he placed a hand on my stomach.
“Anywhere. A place where no one knows our names. Our pasts. We can be free to be together. How does that sound?”
“I’ve done to much.” He sighed, pulling away from you, turning away. “There’s too much blood on my hands to turn away now.”
You cautiously stepped forward, wrapping your arms around his back, pressing kisses along the center of his back. “I love you, Anakin. The mistakes you’ve made do not define you in my eyes. Please, let’s just go.”
He turned again, still in your arms and looked at Obi-wan still on the ground, then down at you. “Do you swear it?”
“I swear it.” You nodded.
He took one last look at the chaos behind him then at R2-D2 and C-3PO at the doorway of the ship watching us. “Can we take them at least?”
“Yes, of course.” You smiled. “They are part of the family.”

He finally smiled down at you, a weight lifting off his shoulders. “I love you, Y/N” he whispered as he pulled you against him, pressing his lips against yours.
