Heart of the City – Chapter 3

Charlie: Hey Beautiful

Hazel: Hey!

Charlie: How was work?

Hazel: So long. I’m just glad it’s over. I have tomorrow off.

Hazel: Are you still on set?

Charlie: Nope. I’m at your door. Buzz me in?

Hazel’s eyes grew wide as she re-read the text. At her door? She was nowhere near ready to have company. It was after midnight at this point and she hadn’t seen him in weeks. They texted every day and not once did he mention he was coming by. After she’d gotten home, she’d immediately cleaned off her makeup and changed in her pj’s which consisted of blue and white stripes cotton pants and a white tank top.

Her phone buzzed again.

Charlie: Getting pretty cold out here…

Shit. She buzzed him in and ran to her room to pull on a loose grey cardigan wrapping the front around herself to cover the fact that she wasn’t wearing a bra. His footsteps could be heard in the hallway as he reached her door and she opened it before he had a chance to knock.

That beautiful smile took over his whole face as his eyes landed on hers and she blushed. His reaction to seeing her was always surprising. In retail, you were usually invisible until they needed something from you, but Charlie had a way of making her feel like she was the only girl in the world.

“Charlie, what are you doing here?” She asked as she stepped out of the way. He walked in and she shut the door behind him, keeping her arms crossed to keep her cardigan to cover her chest.

“I had to see you. We had a few days off from filming and I flew out.”

His answer was nonchalant, like it was the most obvious thing in the world while he pushed his carry-on up against the wall.

It wasn’t every day that she heard a celebrity say that they just had to see her but it felt like it was the most natural thing in the world coming from him. Charlie was the most down to earth person she’d ever met. He’d even blush when she mentioned his social status.

Hazel didn’t know what she expected when she met him. Initially she thought he’d be just as bad as the rest of the a-listers that came by her department but he wasn’t. He was just a regular Joe who worked really hard at his job. He loved to cook and had an insatiable passion for learning new things.

They’d only met a few times since their first date. Between his busy schedule and her juggling a full time job and classes, it wasn’t easy but he’d always stop by once or twice a month.

His visits were always announced and she always waited for him with open arms but it had never gotten to anything more. They would go for a quick grocery shop, Charlie would insist on cooking her a meal which was always delicious and they always ended in a similar fashion – the two of them hanging out on her couch, laughing at a rom-com they’d put on until they passed out.

A hotel room wasn’t necessary when he visited. Hazel loved having him but she was always self conscious about her apartment when he could be staying at a luxury hotel. He on the other hand insisted that he preferred her place. It was small and intimate. Full of character. But most importantly it meant he got to spend more time with her.

“When did you get in?”

Hazel asked as she locked the door and walked over to the fridge to grab him a beer. He took it and took a long pull while he leaned back against the counter.

“Just now. I came straight over.”

She returned his smile and walked over to him to wrap her arms around his waist.

“Well I’m glad you did.”

Charlie’s arms wrapped around her small torso and held her against him. She could hear his heart beating steadily against her chest and her smile grew.

“I am too.”

He smiled as she pulled away from the hug.

Hazel grabbed two beers from the fridge as he made his way towards the couch and when she turned, he had a knowing smirk on his face. She followed his gaze to the TV where it was paused on one of Charlie’s many sex scenes on Sons of Anarchy. She felt a rush of embarrassment as her cheeks heated with blush. She wasn’t watching it for the sex scenes by any means but she could imagine what Charlie would be thinking.

“Um – uh. Here.” She stuttered, handing him his beer.

“Thinking of me, are you?” He smirked, grabbing the bottle and putting it up to his perfectly formed lips to take a sip.

She covered her face with her free hand to cover the blush but she couldn’t help but nod.

“It’s not what you think!” She shook her head frantically. “It just helps when I haven’t seen you in a while.”

His smirk deepened and he stepped forward, his hand gently grazing her hip before resting on her waist. “So you do this often?”

Hazel’s breath caught in her throat at his touch. The intimacy of their closeness made it hard for her to speak but she shrugged as nonchalantly as she could.

“It’s not my fault you’re the star of one of my favorite shows.”

Charlie laughed lowly and put his beer down on the table before returning both hands to her hips, pressing her body against his. “Glad I can help ease the distance, babe.”

She kissed his bottom lip lightly, “Let’s go get some food. I know how you hate plane food, you must be starving. There’s this really low key pizza place a few blocks away. Open 24 hours.”

“Alright.” He nodded, biting his lower lip as he watched her speak. “Get changed.” He patted her ass before walking past her to the bathroom.

Hazel nodded, opening her closet doors to find what to wear. She picked out a pair of jean shorts and a long sleeve t-shirt for the night’s chill before pulling off her pajama shorts and her tank top. She gasped at the feel of warm hands on the now bare skin of her hips as she stood with only a pair of boyshorts on.

“On second thought …”

Charlie’s hands were soft but calloused from riding on his bike all day. The feel of them on her skin immediately caused goosebumps. She covered her breasts with her arms as she turned around, his hands never leaving her body. He looked down at her, his eyes full of hunger as he lowered his head to kiss her lips. They’d kissed before – sure, but this was different. It was longing and passionate. She couldn’t help but return it, moving her arms to wrap around his neck, her chest pressed against him.

His lips moved down to her neck, his tongue tracing soft circles down to her shoulder as his hands moved down to her panties, pushing them down slowly so that she was completely naked before him. He took a step back and his breath hitched in his throat at the sight before him as he smiled.

“You’re absolutely beautiful, babe.”

She could feel the heat of blush on her cheeks but she’d never felt more confident than in that moment. Taking a step closer to him, her hands gripped the bottom of his shirt, pulling it over his head before their lips met again. His hands roaming the curves of her body as she pulled off his belt and worked on his zipper, pushing his pants down. She could feel his hardness against her through his boxers before he lifted her and laid her back onto the bed, climbing on top of her. His hips grinding against her center, he kissed her again before making his way down her body, his tongue tracing down between her breasts and down her stomach before his head was between her thighs.

She gasped at his playful bite on the inside of her thigh and he smirked at her before his lips wrapped around her clit, sucking on it gently. The sensation causing a moan to escape her lips as her back arched into him. He worked his tongue expertly between her wet folds, bringing her closer and closer to release with each motion.

Sensing that, he slid a finger inside, curving it slightly to hit the spot and that was all it took to send her into her first orgasm. She could swear her moans could be heard from the hallway but she didn’t care.

He pulled away, licking his lips. A smirk curved across his face as he admired the sight of her catching her breath before she pushed him on his back. Her hands sliding down his boxers before she kissed her way up his abs to his neck sucking on it softly making him groan into her ear as she climbed over him. His hands running up the backs of her thighs to her ass, gripping it tightly as their tongues dances with one anothers.

She lifted her hips slightly, letting him enter before taking him in fully. She dug her face into his neck, biting the skin softly as she winced in pain, adjusting to his size. He kissed her shoulder, physically holding back from pounding into her while she got used to him. After a moment she lifted again, sitting up on top of him, her hands resting on his chest as she started to ride him. Slowly at first, taking in the look of pure unadulterated pleasure on his face before she went faster. His fingers dug into her thighs, opening them further for deeper access as he joined in her tempo.

Moans filled the room. Charlie flipping her back on her back as he slammed back inside of her. Holding himself up on his arms, he lifted her legs over his shoulders as he thrusted into her causing both to reach their climax.

He rolled off, laying on his back breathing heavily as he struggled to catch his breath. You covered your face with your hands as you realized what had just happened.

“Holy shit.” You mumbled as you turned to your side to face him.

“That’s a good thing right?” He laughed lightly, trying to catch his breath, as he turned to face you. His strong arms pulling you closer, brushing your cheek with his hand. “Good. How about we go get that food now?”

“So there I was, hiding from my parents in a tree when a squirrel decides that it didn’t want to share it’s home anymore. Next thing I know, I’m free falling for what feels like ever before I fell into the fence. I thought I was dead for sure. Like my life flashed before my eyes and everything but turns out God had other plans and I only had to get thirty stitches across my hip. “

“Ouch.” Charlie laughed, finishing his slice of pizza. “So have you never been friends with squirrels or was it just that one?”

“Shut up!” She laughed. “Furry animals love me. I’m like cinderella!”

“Cinderella never tried to hide in a tree to make her parents think she ran away.” He laughed as she threw a fry at him.

“Excuse me! She would’ve given anything to to run away from that place!”

Charlie chuckled, unable to argue with her. Instead he grabbed her hand, kissing it softly before they stood to leave. He threw his arm over her shoulder, placing his free hand in his pocket as they walked down the empty streets. The sun had just begun to rise. Going practically all night without sleeping, Hazel laid her head on his shoulder, her arm wrapped around his waist.

She had forgotten how nice it was to have someone. To be held and cared for. To just go out and enjoy herself with. It was hard enough to imagine finding a guy in a busy city but even harder to believe that she’d found that guy in Charlie.

He closed the door behind them, taking off his shirt and pants before laying them on the arm of her couch as she did the same. The two crawled back into the bed and he pulled her body against his.

“Haz?” He whispered as he rested his head over hers. “You free this weekend?”

“I’m working Saturday. Why?” She looked up at him.

“I was hoping you would come with me to London. My brother has this thing.”

She could hear his heart beating quicker with her head on his chest. Was he nervous?

“What thing?” She asked.

“His – uh – his wedding. I was hoping you could be my date?”

“What?” She leaned up on her elbow to look down at him.

They had been in their own bubble for so long. Going somewhere else would mean breaking that. Making it public. Was she ready for that?

Charlie leaned up on his elbows. His eyes surveying her reaction. “Will you be my date to my brother’s wedding? I know what I’m asking – I know the attention it will get, but I can’t think of asking anyone else and it’ll be a chance for you to meet my family.”

“Is that really what you want?”

He leaned in, kissing her shoulder up to her neck. Her eyes closed at the sensation..

“Yeah, babe. I told them I was bringing my girlfriend.”

Her eyes widened as she heard him speak. “Girlfriend?”

“That’s what you are, aren’t you?” He looked up at her, his hand caressing her hip.

“Yeah. Yeah, I guess I am.” She relaxed into his touch.

“So will you come with me?”

“I’d love too.” She nodded.

“Good.” He smirked pulling the sheets up over them. “Now for more important things.”
