Maverick:
Our eyes shot up to Allie, a glimmer of pride in her smirk. Sexy and dangerous. Couldn’t be good for my health. Not with Duke as her pops.
“None of that was supposed to happen, well other than the car bomb..” She finally spoke up. “I had packed our bags earlier that day and I was going to wait for him to get home, rig his car, get mom and take off. I was checking to make sure I hadn’t forgotten anything important and he came home sooner than planned, piss drunk. He was screaming for her and when she didn’t answer he came looking for me..” Allie’s voice trailed off and I could feel myself shaking with anger but I couldn’t wrap my head around why I was this mad. “He was going to kill me.” She spoke again. “I found my knife and jabbed it into him but that only stopped him for a second and his hands were around my neck again. I swung and I guess I got him across the face. I still needed time to work on the car so I had to knock him out with a metal tray.”
“You planned to kill him.” Carver asked. “How’d you set it up?”
“Had a friend help. It wasn’t cheap but it wasn’t hard. Motherfucker got lucky.”
I watched as Pyro’s eyes lit up with excitement as he stared at her, listening in. Fucker better keep his hands off.
“What if you’d gotten caught?” Duke asked.
“Then mom still would’ve been home free.”
“Well goddamn. Just like your daddy.” Nate said proudly, almost eye-fucking her while he spoke.
These guys are like fucking wolves and she was the fresh meat. What the fuck.
Allie looked like she was about to punch Nate in the face for his comment but her mom spoke up again.
“He knows it was her.” Vivian spoke up again. “He’s a very dangerous man. One of the largest meth distributors on the east coast and ties to almost every political official. He’ll have everyone looking for her. I had no one else to call for help but Duke.”
“They’ll stay with us at the clubhouse. Mav lives upstairs in the dorms. Prospects will stay with them when a patch isn’t available. Until we know that bastard ain’t comin’ around here, we can’t be too careful. Hawk, I need you to find anything you can on him.”
“All these years away from the club and she still ends up just like the rest of us.” Nate laughed as he took a long pull from his beer. “Goes to show that Outlaw is in the blood. Can’t escape it.”
“Amen to that, brother.” Boonie agreed, raising his bottle before drinking it.
“Saw her smokin’ up on the roof earlier. I had no idea she was Duke’s kid.” I shrugged leaning back by the bar.
“Yeah well it don’t look like she likes bein’ called that.” Tex said as he joined us.
“Missed the home comin’ earlier, Mav. Girl’s got a lotta animosity towards him.” Bomber chimed in.
“I got ways to help her let off some of that steam.” Nate smirked. “Duke’ll be thanking me.”
I glared at Nate. I don’t know why I was being so possessive. I never gave a fuck about who got what chick first but the way Nate and Pyro had been looking and talking about her all night made it real hard not to want to bash their heads in.
“Where is Duke?” I asked changing the subject.
“Spending some quality time with the family?” Tex asked.
Bomber replied. “He’s probably balls deep in his Old lady at this point but his girl don’t want shit to do with him.”
“I should go up there and check on her.” Pyro went to stand but Carver pushed him down hard by his shoulders.
“Now you all listen here. Allie ain’t here to be no sweetbutt. Duke ain’t said nothin’ yet but I’m sure he expects more from us. If you plan on havin’ a go you better plan on making her your old lady.”
“If she’s even going to stick around after this.” Tex pointed out.
Only a few of the men had old ladies. Carver, Boonie, Bomber, and now apparently Duke. Poor bastards. I’d prided myself on not having one. Enjoying all the pussy I wanted. No fuss, no muss, no one bitching at me for it. It made dealing with club business easier as well as enjoying all the benefits that came with the cutt. All the more reason to stay away from Allie. Most of the men felt the same. Having a woman to tie you down was bad for business. They fucked with your head and clouded your judgement. I couldn’t risk that. As Sergeant at Arms, that would cost me my life – or Duke’s.
A little after three in the morning, I woke up from the heat. California summers were brutal and the fucking AC in this place had been broken for years. Didn’t affect Duke though, not like that bastard lived here like a few of us did. I took a piss in the bathroom of my dorm and washed the sweat off my face before making my way up the stairs to smoke a cigarette.
Just like earlier today, the door had been open and I knew she was here. I should’ve walked back downstairs and smoked out on the lot but this was my spot first, I wasn’t going to stop going up there just to avoid her . I took a few steps out and sure enough there she was. Dressed in a ridiculously thin pale pink tank top and pajama shorts, laying down on a blanket, cigarette in hand as she looked up at the sky.
Cute. Real fucking cute. My eyes wandered down her body to her breasts, perfectly rounded and plump. Her nipples were hard and I could feel my mouth water.
“You going to have a seat or you just going to stand there looking at me like a creep?”
Allie’s voice called out to me and I froze. What the fuck was wrong with me? I had an aching dick and I was just standing here watching her. I didn’t have to fucking do this. I could go down to the bar right now and find someone to take care of it.
But that’s not what I wanted.
Sorry.” I muttered. “Didn’t know if you wanted company.”
She shrugged nonchalantly as I took a seat next to her and it made her chest bounce with the movement. Being this close to her was dangerous. She smelled good and I had a high definition view of everything. Her tank top wasn’t leaving much to the imagination and she knew that but she showed no signs of caring about it. It wasn’t a shock. All the women that hung around this club were like that but she didn’t strike me as one of them. She knew she was good looking but it didn’t seem to phase her. She was just comfortable in her skin. All the club whores downstairs were doing it to get themselves in bed with a patch. Allie was just hanging out, like it was the most casual thing in the world.
Well fuck, if this is how she chooses to hang out, I can’t say that I mind. I lit my cigarette and watched her smoke hers. There was a comfortable silence here. Neither of us really feeling the need to speak but that didn’t stop us from looking. I could feel her eyes wandering my body and I smirked. She had the same look of hunger and desire that she’d had when I caught her up here earlier. She liked what she saw, most women did but none of them had this kind of effect on me. I felt like my skin was on fire just from her glare and I needed to feel her. Lick my way around every part of her body. See for myself what else she was hiding under there.
I pulled my eyes away and blew the smoke out slowly. I was acting like a goddamn teenager. So what if I had a crazy hot woman lying down next to me. I had loyalties. To the club. To her dad.
“Pretty bad ass.” I spoke up. All this silence was letting my mind going places that it shouldn’t. “What you did to him. He had it comin’.”
She nodded, taking another inhale of her cigarette and blowing the smoke out in circles. In fucking circles. What the fuck. I cleared my throat and tried to think of something – anything to keep me from picturing my dick in her mouth.
“Just wish I succeeded.” She finally said.
“It’s fine. The club won’t let anything happen to you or your mom.” I wasn’t going to let anything happen to her, I’d make damn sure of it. “Your dad’ll make sure that fucker is taken care of.”
I heard her scoff and turned to look at her again. A bitter smirk on her face as she looked at me. “He doesn’t deserve that title.”
There was that resentment again. It looked good on her.
“What’s your name?”
“Mav.” I replied, realizing that we hadn’t had a proper introduction at all. “Maverick, but Mav for short.”
“I knew it’d be something sexy.” She said with a smirk.
My breath caught in my throat and I let out a dry cough as I choked on the smoke I had inhaled. Wasn’t expecting that. I cleared my throat and watched as she laughed.
“Glad you think so .” I tried to say as smoothly as possible, my voice raspy from my coughing fit.
Allie put out her cigarette, sitting up next to me and leaning back on her arms, her eyes looking back up at the sky. This time I followed her gaze, curious as to what was up there that had her staring so intently but there was nothing. She must’ve sensed my confusion and spoke up, still not looking at me.
“This is my first time seeing stars. New York is too bright for this.” She said. “I used to lay on my best friend’s rooftop just like this, trying to find some peace but the night sky was blank. Just one large glow of light filled with the sounds of horns and sirens. This is breathtaking.”
I guess I never thought about it that way. It was beautiful but it had just always been like this, I guess to outsiders this was something special. I could see the stars reflecting in her eyes, causing them to glimmer. She smiled softly and her eyes squinted causing them to crease a little. It was pretty breathtaking. Not the sky, no. The smile on her makeup free face. All the shit that was happening and she had the purest smile I’ve ever seen on her face. It was innocent and almost childlike even though she was anything but.
She tied her hair up and I saw one tattoo that was separate from the rest right on the back of her neck. A chinese symbol.
“What’s that mean?” I placed my finger on the ink, her skin reacted by breaking out in goosebumps. It was good to know that I had the same effect on her as she did on me.
She laughed shyly and I could swear I saw her blush in the moonlight but she lowered her head. “This one’s actually so embarrassing. It was my first one, I paid like fifty bucks for it when I was like 16. My friend and I ended up going to this sketchy shop at like 1 in the morning because neither of our parents would let us get one. It’s supposed to say Free Spirit but it actually says Peaches.”
She watched as I burst out laughing and she hit my arm lightly.
“Guess you just earned your nickname, Peaches.” I managed to get out through choked laughter.
“Don’t you dare!”
She laughed and leaned her head on my arm. I didn’t mind it. Her hair felt like silky against my skin and smelled like vanilla. I had the urge to lean my head over hers but decided against it. This was getting way to personal.
“I should get to bed.”
She said as she stood, the underside of her ass cheeks peeking through the bottom of her shorts as she brushed herself off. I couldn’t stop myself from biting my lip and I knew she saw but that didn’t stop me this time. A man could only take so much.
“You have a goodnight, Maverick.”
Allie:
I had to take a shower again this morning. I’d soaked through my sheets from sweating so much. The air was dryer here than in New York. You felt the heat to the fullest extent. At least we had wind in between buildings back home. I put my bag up on the bed and started going through it. There weren’t a whole lot of options but I managed to pull on a loose black tank top and a pair of denim cut off shorts before slipping my boots back on. Letting my hair air dry wasn’t a problem, it was straight anyway, but I regretted not grabbing a straightener or a curling wand. Just anything to make me feel put together. In this heat, I’d sweat off my makeup regardless but I swiped on some waterproof mascara just before walking out of the door.
The hallway was empty but I didn’t want to go down stairs alone. I prayed mom would be in her room still and I was about to knock on the door when I heard giggling followed by a deep, hoarse voice. Duke’s voice. I felt sick to my stomach. It had only been one day. One day since we’d been here and she was acting like she never left all of those years ago. Everything bad that had ever happened with us, started with him. With him abandoning us. Still, here she was right back in his bed.
“You alright, Peaches?” I heard Mav’s voice and turned to see him coming out of the doorway across from mine. He wasn’t kidding about using that nickname. Was he this close to me the entire night?
He looked like he’d just woken up. The sleep was still clearly evident in his blue eyes and his black hair was lying to the side instead of swept up like the last time I’d seen him.The slight stubble on his face enhancing his strong features and chiseled jawline. He had on shorts this time though. Shorts that hung impossibly low on his hips, accentuating his washboard abs all the way down to the v lines that lead below his waistband.
My god. The things I’ll do to him one day.
“What’s going on?” He asked a little more concerned.
“I need a drink.” I muttered.
“It’s 10 in the morning.” He chuckled.
It was cute that he thought I was kidding but I wasn’t. I didn’t cross the country for my mom to fuck another loser. I shrugged my shoulders and brushed past him to walk stairs to the bar.
A few of the other men were scattered around the clubhouse, some playing pool, some talking to women. One of the older ones, Carver, was sitting at the other end of the bar. I took a seat and the woman behind the bar was the same one from last night, only this time, she was doing a line of coke off of the counter. It should’ve caught me off guard but with everything going on it really didn’t seem to phase me. I ordered Jack again and she filled me a glass and slid it down to me.
“Getting an early start?”
The older man’s voice broke my thoughts and I took a sip, keeping my eyes on my glass.
“Just tryin’ to catch up to you, I guess.” I shrugged, noticing the collection of glasses that had gathered in front of him.
He chuckled deeply and raised his glass at me. “Cheers to that.” He laughed before taking a sip from his glass. “How was your first night?”
With a deep breath, I came to terms with the fact that I wasn’t going to get much time to think around here.
“It was good.” I said back politely. “Hell of a heat wave though, we don’t get it quite as bad back home.”
“Yeah, gotta work on getting this damn AC fixed. So why you out here drinking at ten in the morning?”
I shrugged my shoulders. He didn’t waste any time. “Could be a lot of things, Carver. Could be because I tried to kill a man. Might be because I failed and now I’m in hiding because he’s trying to kill me. Or because I somehow ended up under the same roof as my estranged father who I’ve never met.”
I took a long sip from my drink, finally realizing how fucked up this entire situation was before I shrugged my shoulders.
“Or I might just have a drinking problem and never realized it until now. I’m going with the latter.”
Carver caught me off guard with his uproarious laugh and it actually made me smile as I took another sip.
“What’s so funny over here?” Another man in a vest came up to us. I’d see him at the table but I never caught his name.
“We just determined that Allie over here is an alcoholic.”
Carver laughed and I tossed a pretzel at him from the bowl that was placed in front of me as the guy looked on confused. He smiled anyway trying to play along and sat down on the stool next to me.
“Hey,” He smiled at me. “I’m Pyro.”
“Allie.” I smiled back.
Pyro was smaller than the rest. More innocent in a way that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. He had a cut on and everything but he seemed young with a child like smile that made you feel more at ease. He was definitely one of the cuter ones here, although none of them were near as sexy as Mav. Pyro’s eyes were brown and his hair was jet black, cut short and neat. He was in good shape too, much like the rest of them, only he didn’t seem as seasoned as everyone else.
“Let me guess, you’re a firebug?”
He laughed and it was one of the most adorable things I’d ever heard.
“Yeah.” He nodded. “So you liking the room? Duke had them scrub it clean and all new sheets and shit.”
“Yeah.” I said dryly. “It’s great.”
“Glad you like it, feel free to make yourself at home. It gets a little crazy on the weekends but the bar and kitchen are at your disposal at anytime.”
I smiled and took another sip. It was nice to finally have a conversation that didn’t include talking about my face. He was actually pretty cool, easy to talk to, and being pretty light hearted about the matter. It felt good to chill for a minute.
“Thanks.” I nodded. “So what is it you do for the club, Pyro? Blow shit up?”
He laughed and shrugged his shoulders. “Kinda. Am I that obvious?”
“Yeah, there’s a hint of crazy behind that smile.”
I winked at him with a smile and I could see him blushing before someone smacked the back of his head. Shifting my eyes up, I saw Mav with a scowl on his face towards the man. He’s put on more clothes by now which was sad but his jealous scowl made my legs weak.
I could feel how much this man wanted me. I felt it in the meeting yesterday. I felt it on the rooftop last night. I felt it now. I should’ve made a move last night. It would’ve been the perfect distraction to this mess I’d gotten myself into but I couldn’t bring myself to do it.
Pyro didn’t question it, just rubbed the back of his head bitterly before Mav came stand at the bar between Carver and I. He looked at my glass before his eyes narrowed in on mine, giving me a questioning look.
I didn’t feel the need to explain and he wasn’t going to ask me but someone was.
“Allie, are you drinking at 10 in the morning?!” I heard mom’s tone and watched Duke approach from behind her.
“Well I wasn’t lucky enough to fuck my stress away like some people, so drinkin’ will have to do.”
Her jaw dropped open and my eyes shot between the two of them. They looked caught but not in a way they were ashamed of. Pyro laughed, obviously not sensing the tension. It warranted a deathly glare from Duke and Mav pushed him off of his stool from behind me.
“I need a fucking cigarette.” I muttered under my breath before I stood, downing my drink and walking out of the doors.
Leaning back against the wall, I took a deep inhale, watching the flame from my lighter light the end of it. I took everything in me to keep calm. I wanted to yell. Yell at her. I didn’t give a fuck about him, but how could she be so stupid? Then she had the audacity to talk to me about drinking?
Deep breaths, Allie. Deep breaths.
Mav walked out the doors shortly behind me, joining me as I leaned back against wall. He put his cigarette to his lips and inhaled slowly as he lit it up.
“You know, the only reason I didn’t fuck you last night was because I kept reliving everything that had gone on these last few days? I kept thinking of how I might have ruined mom’s life, maybe more than that evil fuck. I felt so bad for bringing her here to face the guy who left her alone with a 3 year old kid to deal with by herself.” I took a pull of smoke while I looked out on the lot. You know what she was doing last night? Choking down on that man’s dick.”
Mav, inhaled the smoke deeply, and stared down at me going over the scenario in his head before his lips curved into a smirk.
“Why’s it bother you so much? That’s her Old Man.”
“I don’t give a fuck if that’s the Pope, Maverick. The point is that we didn’t travel across the entire fucking country from her to jump from one asshole to the next.”
“Whoa whoa.” He shook his head as he let out smoke. “Duke may be an asshole but he’s not on the same level as that guy.”
“No, I guess that’s why he ain’t the one in the hospital.”
Maverick laughed and turned his body towards mine. He must have figured that this was a losing battle. I hadn’t been around long but anyone could tell how hard headed I was. Instead, his lips curved into an inviting smirk as his eyes traveled down my body.
“So you wanted to fuck last night?” He asked smugly, changing the topic. “What makes you think I would’ve?”
I smirked and lifted my head to look up at him.
God knows I want him. Just the thought of it had me dripping wet last night. I was a women who knew what she wanted. I never denied my body’s urges. I loved sex. I loved the raw, primal intensity of two sweaty bodies exploring each other for the pure purpose of finding ecstasy. Make of it what you will. I never gave into the public opinion of women saving themselves for that one special man. A girl who likes sex without commitment is seen as a whore while a man is praised for it. It was all bullshit to me. I couldn’t stomach the thought of being in a real relationship, mostly due to the destructive ones around me, but that was no reason for me not to enjoy myself. .
I grazed my hand across the front of his jeans and bit my lip after feeling his hardened member.
“Aside from the fact that you’re dick was hard the entire time you were up on the roof, I haven’t missed the way you’ve been looking at me – ”
“How’s that?” He interrupted, his voice was rough but playful, almost teasing and his eyes were dark again, full of curiosity and desire.
I laughed quietly, stubbing out my cigarette. “Look, we’re both adults here. There’s no need for bullshit games. I know that by now you’ve imagined yourself taking me in every way possible and last night after I left, you spent some quality time with your dick just thinking of me. And I won’t deny that I touched myself at the thought of it. If I’d known your room was across the hall from mine last night would’ve ended differently and now that I know, I intend to take full advantage of it.”
I heard a low growl come from deep in his throat and he leaned in a little closer. My breath hitched in my throat as his eyes narrowed in on me. There was a dangerous glint to them, the color of a night sky right before a thunderstorm. There was an animalistic hunger in them. All these men were scary and I’d dealt with scary men my whole life, but not like this. This made my knees weak and for the first time I could get a sense just how deadly he could be, but this wasn’t threatening. This was promising and I wanted nothing more than to explore it.
His hand reached up and wrapped around my arm tightly, not enough to hurt me but enough to hold me still. You could feel how much he was restraining himself. “This can’t happen, I have a loyalty to your dad..” He growled through clenched teeth.
I leaned in closer, my nose almost grazing his as I met his gaze. “I don’t want your loyalty. I want you to fuck me.”
I watched his eyes widen before the door opened and a man cleared his throat. Peeking over his shoulder, I saw Nate. Mav didn’t seem to notice, his eyes still on me as if he was trying to read me. I bit my lip, resisting the urge to take this any further and pulled away from him before I walked past both of them to go inside.
